For the first time, I got paid for my writing! The initial payment: 1 Cent.
Full disclosure, this was a test payment from my employer, and a few days later, he sent full compensation for the 4300-word script I wrote.
But still, I'm proud to say that the first time I got paid for my writing, I received exactly 0.01 dollars.
As Robert Benchley said, “The freelance writer is one who is paid per piece or per word or perhaps.”
Receiving payment for writing is far from a guarantee, which is why that single cent actually marked a big step on my writing journey.
